  2. Click "Install Firmware" and select the serial port (look for 'USB JTAG/serial...' or 'COM1'). Toggle "Factory Reset" to erase all data before installation.

Tips:

  • Please use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on a desktop computer for Web Serial compatibility.
  • Keep this tab open and leave the device connected until installation completes.
  • If the browser cannot find the device, check if the USB cable is a data cable, re-seat the USB cable and confirm the camera remains in Setup Mode.
  • Close other serial consoles before connecting.
  • Approve any Web Serial permission prompts in Chrome/Edge; the tool requires serial access to flash.

Previous Firmware Versions

Download app-only binaries for TrailGuard portal updates, or install directly from the web browser. These packages flash only the application to preserve device settings and statistics. Please note that a complete installation (using the "Install The Latest TrailGuard Firmware" instructions above) is required for updates from versions 1.x or earlier.

TrailGuard Troubleshooting Tool

This tool will guide you through the steps to diagnose the issue by observing the camera and communication unit light behavior.

Before you begin:

  • Confirm the power cable is connected and the SIM card is properly seated.
  • Check that both antennas are securely attached to the Communications Unit.
  • Ensure the motion sensor is covered and all indicator lights are off.
  • If you are testing normal operation, keep the magnet out of the slot.
